Cookies with Santa Draws YoungstersHuber Heights Courier, Wednesday, December 14, 2005
The Huber Heights Athletic Foundations was pleased to host the 2nd Annual Cookies with Santa, this past Thursday evening. In spite of the snow, over 250 parents and children braved the elements to enjoy and evening of picture coloring, Santa Bingo, a cake walk, creating crafts and of course, a chance for the children to spend some quality time with the “Jolly Old Man” himself. A highlight of the evening was the unveiling of Santa’s Candy House, created by local chef Joey Kolano. The candy house will be on display at the Huber Heights YMCA throughout the holidays. The candy house was created entirely from donations from Meijer, Kroger, Big Lots, Daymet Credit Union, Gordon Food Service, Wise Choice, Kmart, Kielson’s, Pattie Cakes and Wayne Music Club. The HHAF would like to extend a special thanks to the Wayne High School Band and Warriorettes who provided the volunteers to assist the children with writing letters to Santa, building various crafts and participating in holiday games. Special thanks is also given to Ronnie Redd and the Huber Heights Rotary Club, who sponsored and volunteered their time to conduct the coloring contest.
